Edwin is a DMA from The University of Arizona. Also, he is a guitarist, composer, arranger, and conductor. He began his studies at the age of three under the direction of his father, Roberto Guevara, and later at the National Conservatory of Colombia under the direction of Ramiro Isaza, Blas Emilio Atehortua, and Gustavo Yepes. He has obtained more than 70 national and international awards for interpretation and composition such as the Leo Brouwer, Celedonio Romero, Miguel Llobet, Arjau de Música Contemporánea, Juventudes Musicales de España, Chicago Guitar Festival, and was the winner of the international competition for composition Premieres Across History at the University of Arizona in 2021, among others. He has received masterclasses from significant figures such as Abel Carlevaro, Eduardo Fernandez, Alvaro Pierri, Pepe Romero, Leo Brouwer, Pavel Steidl, David Russell, Sergio Assad, etc. Edwin Guevara has performed as a soloist and accompanied orchestras in Europe, Asia, and America. Thanks to his artistic versatility, he has participated in more than 50 recordings of all genres and styles. He is invited to important international guitar festivals and competitions as a jury and gives master classes and conferences. He has also been commissioned to premiere worldwide works for solo guitar, chamber music, and concerts for guitar and orchestra. He receives his degree and higher title from the Conservatorio Suoerior de Musica del Liceo de Barcelona (Spain) with Guillem Pérez-Quer. He is a Master's in Symphonic Conducting from the Universidad Nacional de Colombia. He has formed and directed important chamber groups and orchestras in different countries. In 2017 he recorded his first album for the world's leading classical music label Naxos "Music for Cello and Guitar," as a member and composer of the Duo Villa-Lobos with his wife, the cellist Cecilia Palma. Currently recording new record productions with the same company as a soloist and with the Duo Villa-Lobos. He is an artist, Knobloch Strings from Spain and Guitarlift from Germany. His compositions are edited by Bergmann Editions from Denmark and performed worldwide by significant figures and chamber music ensembles. Great composers have dedicated their works to him such as Roland Dyens, Leo Brouwer, Blas Emilio Atehortua, Atanas Ourkouzounov, Jaime Zenamon, Petr Vit, Clemente Díaz, Jesús Emilio González, Gabriel Estarellas, Pedro Sarmiento, Gustavo Niño, Julio César Ramírez, Germán Peña Gutiérrez , Fabio Salazar, Jorge Miguel González, Carlos Lora Falquez, Silvio Martínez, among others. He has been the teacher of outstanding young guitarists in Colombia of the last generations in his pedagogical work. He is a professor at the Sergio Arboleda University in Bogotá.
